Modern, practical builds—designed to be demo-ready.

I document projects across mechanical design (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), mechanisms, and small software tools. Below are highlights + a rolling 100-day engineering challenge.

Projects

Highlights that represent how I build: useful, clean, and easy to explain.

Apple Detector (YOLOv8)

Computer Vision YOLOv8 Python ML

Trained and deployed a custom YOLOv8 object detection model to detect apples in real time using a webcam. Dataset labeling and training were done in a Nexus project, then finalized locally with live inference and on-screen confidence feedback.

Resume Parser

Python Parsing Presentation

Python script that extracts and organizes information from resumes. Built for the user (not the company) to benefit the application process. Presented in front of professors and business leaders in East Lansing, MI.

Brainrot Jia.Seed Hackathon

HTML CSS JavaScript

My group rebuilt the old iCarly website from scratch using old photos/videos as references, then added our own twist to match hackathon parameters.

100-Day Engineering Challenge

Small builds every day. Short descriptions, fast iteration.

Day 1 — Phone Stand

AutoCAD refresher using my phone’s measurements. Simple, practical, quick iteration.

Day 1 — Phone stand

Day 2 — Pomodoro Timer

Small Python project to refresh functions + logic. Timed work/break prompts.

Day 2 — Pomodoro timer

Day 3 — 4-Bar SolidWorks

Built and animated a classic 4-bar linkage. Fundamentals used in suspensions and robotics.

Day 3 — 4-bar linkage

Day 4 — Password Generator

Python script that generates passwords from user criteria (length, symbols, numbers).

Day 4 — Password generator

Day 5 — Apple Detector

Trained a YOLOv8 model to detect apples using a custom dataset. Implemented real-time webcam inference with bounding boxes and confidence scores.

Day 5 — Apple detection model output

Day 6 — MESH

Created a simple 3D mesh model using SolidWorks to understand surface modeling techniques. Really interesting to see how complex shapes can be built from simple sketches and how different forces affect the mesh integrity.

Day 6 — MESH model

Day 7 — Bookwork

Continued going over CAD skills by going over an exercise from AutoCAD 2024 First Level 2D Fundamentals. Created a more complex figure and did the BOM. Below I've attached both the finished product and the exercise.
